Traveller или traveler
Как правильно traveller или traveler???
Гугл показывает почти в 2 раза больше по запросу traveler, но словарь говорит traveller
travel - путешествовать, передвигаться ;~ler - путешественник.

В брит. англ. удваивают L, а в амер. англ. - нет.
А словарю не разорваться же.

OK…here was the rule (as it used to be, anyway). The rule has to do with which syllable of the 2-syllable root/verb gets the accent.
If the FIRST syllable of a 2-syllable word like “travel” or “cancel” or “label” is accented, the correct way to add an ending like “er” or “ed” (or “ing”) is that you should NOT double the final consonant before adding the ending that starts with a vowel. In other words, it should be “traveler” because “trav” is the accented syllable in the 2-syllable word “travel” and it is the FIRST syllable. Likewise, it should be “canceled” and “labeled.”
