Волгоградский государственный технический университет расположен в центре на проспекте Ленина. Он был основан в 1930 году как институт тракторной и автомобильной промышленности. В 1963 году институт стал политехническим, а в 1995 году получил статус государственного технического университета. За годы своего существования университет выпустил более 50 000 высококвалифицированных специалистов в области металлургии, автоматизации производственных процессов, автомобилестроения и технического обслуживания автомобилей, управления автомобильным транспортом (логистики), информатики, электроснабжения, экономики, менеджмента, рекламы, химической технологии.
