Hello there, I'm beautiful

The English teacher today asked us to write about a family member, and I chose to write about my mum. I really love her; she’s the heart of our family. My mum cares for me and my sisters with so much warmth. She’s always in the kitchen, whipping up delicious meals that fill the house with the most comforting smells. Every time I walk in, it feels like a warm hug from her. But it’s not all sunshine and rainbows in our home. My dad? Well, that’s a different story. I can’t say I like him much. When his temper flares, it’s like a storm breaking loose. He doesn’t just get loud—he gets physical. He always seems to take it out on me, and I can’t stand it. Sometimes I even see him raise his hand against my mum, and it tears me apart. I rush in, trying to protect her, but it feels like my words and actions don’t mean anything to him. It’s like I become his punching bag, and my mum and sisters fade into the background. When the aggression reaches its peak, I feel this overwhelming urge to escape. I just need to get out of that house, to breathe, to find a moment of peace away from the chaos. But then there’s my mum again—she’s the sweetest person I've ever known. Always there, sticking by my side and cheering us on, no matter what. My sisters, who are younger than me, are little rays of sunshine; they’re kind and do their best to support each other. We’ve built our own little world, one where we can lean on one another and share a laugh, despite everything happening around us. I often find myself carrying heavy bags from the shop, a small effort in a sea of challenges, but I do it because I want to help her. At the end of the day, all I want to do is take care of her, just like she takes care of me.
