A lot of different weather (1) disasters happen on the Earth every year. All of them can be very (2) dangerous for people. The greatest natural disasters cause a lot of damage, (3) injure and kill people. When the famous Galveston Hurricane struck the United States in September 1900, the whole city of Galveston, Texas, was (4) destroyed and about 6,000 people were killed. (5) Hurricanes often bring massive floods. The Hurricane Agnes, that happened in the United States in 1972, was not a strong one, but it brought rainfalls that caused floods and the deaths of 122 people. A more awful (6) flood happened in China in 1998. It was caused by heavy rainfall. Nearly 4,000 people were killed. The flood destroyed houses and left millions of people (7) homeless, a lot of farmland was (8) damaged.
