Bernie and I 1. wanted to buy a place before we 2. started a family, so we often 3. worked 12 hours a day to earn extra money. 4. There were times when we 5. were so tired that we would just grab a sandwich. We 6. seldom watched TV in the evening and 7. rarely went to bed later than 10 p.m. However, once in a while, Bernie 8. would take me to a local cafe for a treat. Bernie 9. always told Guy how hard life 10. had been back then, and it's true, but most of the time Bernie and I 11. were happy, although sometimes we 12. would get upset because we 13. didn't have much money. Then in 1981 we 14. bought a small apartment, and ten months later we 16. had Guy. Now that we have more money, we 17. eat out quite often. And every so often we 18. go to a restaurant we 19. love, called Sam's, even though Bernie 20. always says we can't afford it!
