Hi Terry,
Thank you for your email and for sharing your New Year traditions in Britain. It’s interesting to learn how you celebrate this holiday!
In my family, we are also busy preparing for the New Year. My mom is making her special dish, a traditional pie with meat and vegetables, which is a favorite of everyone in the family. As for decorations, we are making paper snowflakes and hanging colorful lights around the house. My little brother is wearing a funny costume—he’s dressed as a snowman, complete with a carrot nose and a big hat!
It’s fascinating to hear that New Year’s Eve is not as popular as Christmas in Britain. In my country, New Year is one of the biggest celebrations of the year. We usually have a big family dinner, watch fireworks, and exchange gifts at midnight. Many people also go outside to celebrate with friends and neighbors.
I hope you have a wonderful New Year’s Day with your family, relaxing and enjoying the holiday. Write back soon and tell me more about your traditions!
Best wishes,
