In the same year, passenger air communication between London and Moscow was opened, and, finally, the Soviet capital hosted the VI World Festival of Youth and Students.
The festival made a real sensation in the Soviet society closed from the outside world: the capital of the USSR had never seen such an influx of foreigners. 34,000 delegates from 131 countries of the world arrived in Moscow. Many witnesses of the events are nostalgic for these bright and eventful days.
