When I was a little boy, I spent summer at my grandmother’s country house. I liked walking around and playing with other children. In the evenings, we usually sat around the fire and told scary stories. We loved to walk to an empty old house in the village. People said that ghosts lived in that house.
One evening it suddenly started to rain. I ran back home. And when I passed that house, I saw a white woman at the window. She smiled at me.
I froze for a moment, unsure if I should keep walking or go back. The stories we told around the fire flooded my mind. I had always thought of the ghost as a frightening figure, but her smile seemed warm and inviting. Gathering my courage, I decided to take a step closer.
As I approached, the woman disappeared from the window, and I felt a chill run down my spine. I stood there, heart pounding, when suddenly, I heard a soft voice calling my name. It was faint, almost like a whisper carried by the wind.
"Don't be afraid," the voice said. "I just want to talk."
Despite my fear, curiosity took over. I called out, "Who are you?"
A moment later, the woman appeared at the door, looking just as ethereal as before. "I was once like you, a child full of dreams. But I got lost many years ago. Now, I watch over this place."
I felt a strange sense of connection. "What happened to you?" I asked.
With a sad smile, she replied, "I lost my way and became trapped here. But I can help you find your dreams, if you promise to remember me."
I nodded, realizing that this was a moment I would never forget. And just like that, the rain stopped, and the clouds began to part, revealing a starry sky.
As I ran home, I couldn't shake the feeling that I had made a new friend, one who would always be watching over me.
