As she could not run away from them, Nara dived into the lake and died. From that time the lake was named Lake Naroch.

Много лет назад жила девушка по имени Нара. Она умела хорошо петь и играть на гуслях. Она любила одного юношу и хотела выйти за него замуж. Однажды она сидела у большого красивого озера, и ее увидел богатый человек. Ему так понравилась Нара, что он захотел на ней жениться. Поскольку у Нары был жених, она не хотела выходить замуж за богача. Но богач был очень упрям, и его слуги убили жениха Нары и отвезли Нару во дворец богача. Девушка была так несчастна, что, когда все спали, она подожгла дворец и убежала. Узнав об этом, богач послал за Нарой своих слуг. Не в силах убежать от них, Нара нырнула в озеро и погибла. С тех пор озеро стало называться озером Нарочь.
