Заселение Северного Причерноморья греками было одним из направлений широкого расселения греков по берегам Средиземноморского бассейна, которое получило название «Великая грецкая колонизация» VIII-VI ст. до н. э. Этот процесс расселения греков был обусловлен экономическим и социальным развитием грецкого общества. Возникновение поселений греческих колонистов в на берегах Северного Причерноморья сыграло существенную роль в исторической жизни самих греков и в жизни племён и народов украинских земель с которыми в результате колонизации грекам пришлось непосредственно сосуществовать на протяжении долгого времени.
