Great Britain is the name of the largest island of the British Isles.The island is divided into three parts:Scotland, England ans Wales. But people often call the whole country Great Britain.The official name of the country is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (the UK).And it consists of four parts:England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Great Britain is an island which comprises the territory of England, Scotland and Wales. Also it is a part of United Kingdom (together with Northern Ireland)
So it is not a state, it is a part of the state.
